Clarke County Sheriff Seeks Dedicated Individuals for Jailer Position

Hiring full-time deputy sheriff
The Clarke County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the position of full-time deputy sheriff.
We will be hiring for two positions.
This position requires that an applicant be a certified peace officer in the state of Iowa, able to successfully complete the Iowa Law Enforcement’s Basic Academy within one year of their hire date, or have the ability to pursue a secondary path to certification. These paths can be found on the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy’s website. https://ilea.iowa.gov/agencies/reciprocity
Certified officers in good standing, will be exempt from physical testing as well as P.O.S.T. examination.
Applicant should be a person of good character, who is not addicted to drugs or alcohol. Post high school and/or military service is preferred, but not required.
Applicant must be at least 21 years of age at the time of certification. Applicant must possess a valid Iowa driver’s license, with a clean driving record.
Applicant shall have a high school diploma or equivalent.
Applicant must pass medical, phycological, vision, hearing testing.
This position requires that you be a self-motivated individual with good personal skills. You must be a good communicator with strong problem-solving skills.
Job duties will include, but are not limited to: investigating and interdicting in crimes, enforcing the laws of the State of Iowa, enforcing city and county ordinances, enforcing traffic laws and investigating traffic accidents.
There are many other jobs of a deputy, too many to list here. But we will train the right person.
